I never really liked New Judge. But after that performance with Bikini Girl…she's got some pipes! I thought it was great. A little bit petty....but I'm okay with that. I will now refer to her as Kara.
I disliked Kris from the very beginning. I would acknowledge when he did well, which was happening more and more often. But I couldn't get past the facial expressions. So last night, I was devastated! But after a very restless night, I'm okay with it. I think everyone favored Adam based on how Idol covered Kris' win and the news coverage. They know Adam lost, right? I can't tell. Truth be told, I wasn't a big Adam fan…but I thought he deserved to win it.
I have read countless articles and reviews about the show. Everyone agrees that Simon didn’t stand when Kris was announced. The camera was pulled so far back you could barely get his reaction. He basically said Adam should have won. They invited Adam back on stage right before he began to sing. All the news channels from San Diego to New York focused on Adam losing not Kris winning.
But I’m not quitting the show. I had a restless night, read some more, blogged some more. But now I am ready to move on. J
Until next year!
The Final 3
Danny - Dance Little Sister – I loved Terence Trent D’Arby…but this was a bad song choice. Wishing Well would have been better. It was a forgettable performance. Paula is an idiot for suggesting this song.
Kris – Apologize – This is a set-up. Easy song. He still was just mediocre. Danny would have done well with this song. This was a soft ball.
Adam – One – Dude, just call it now. It’s over! It was a really good performance. I thought he should have stayed in his lower register more. But definitely still good.
Danny - You are so Beautiful – It was really good. I felt his emotion and passion of the song. I was worried….but he worked it out and brought it on home!
Kris – Heartless – Damn, it wasn’t terrible. WAHHH!!!! I want ADAM and DANNY!!!!
I think Kris just stole this thing.
Adam – Cry – Scream, scream , screech, scream, scream. Didn’t love it, but love him. On to the finals!
I like Danny better…but it is going to be Adam and Kris in the finals. What if there was an upset and Adam was knocked out of the competition?!? That would be a trip! We shall see.

Rock Theme - Slash, Guest Mentor
On to the show...
Adam – Whole Lot of Love – He seemed really subdued. His voice was great as always. When I think of former idols that controlled the stage, I think of Bo Bice. I want to see Adam capture that stage like he did. He does it vocally, but this theme - Rock, he should have went all hair band on us.
Allison – Cry Baby – Her voice was good. But I wasn’t really feeling the performance. I thought it was another subdued performance. I think she could have chosen a better song. Vocally it was great.
Kris and Danny – Duet – They sound good together. But this isn’t really necessary.
Kris – Come Together – This is far from rock. This was like Kenny Loggins singing rock. Oops…that’s an insult to Kenny. I was not feeling this performance. It was a so-what rendition. Simple and boring.
Danny - Dream On - He should have done Cry from Areosmith instead. This song was way out of his reach. The ending was horrible. I like him but he should be going on home based on this hot mess.
Adam and Allison - Duet - Powerful! They sounded great together. I am sure the idol fans will be hearing this rendition a lot on tour. Again, not necessary, but fun to see.
Going home - Maybe Danny, probably Allison because she doesn't have a strong base, should be Kris because he is the weaker of the 4 left. But like isn't fair...

Rat Pack Week – Guest Mentor, Jamie Foxx
Let's begin -
Kris – The Way You Look Tonight
It was Kris’ typical performance. Not bad, but not noteworthy. I think he may pull a major upset and make it to the end of this competition. He has a very big following.
Allison – Someone to Watch Over Me
I was worried about how she would do tonight. She was terrific. She was smooth and sultry on the parts of the song that warranted it and forceful in others. I thought it was the perfect song choice for her and she looked lovely.
Matt – Funny Valentine
I was not a fan of this performance. I thought Matt was flat much of the performance. Simon raved but I thought it was just okay. The performance was better during the preview and I didn’t feel he listened to Jamie’s suggestions. It was okay in some parts but I fear he will be going home.
Danny – Come Rain or Shine
I thought this was perfect. I rewound it and listened to it again. I thought this was his magic moment. I especially liked the end of the performance when he seemed to let loose and put it all into the performance. Loved it!
Adam - Feeling Good
I think his performance was good, his signature high notes. I think I have become bored with his performances and it was definitely too Broadway. I put him in a different category then the rest of the contestants because he is so professional and seasoned. But I am not sure if he should win the whole thing. I am rooting for Danny!
Conclusion
All in all I liked Jamie Fox as the guest mentor. They really have a chance to help the contestants craft their performance. I look forward to them getting better and better.

Disco Night
Disco Night
Lil Rounds – I’m Every Woman – She should have did the Whitney Version. I was not impressed by the performance. Good singer…but too much karaoke.
Chris – She Works Hard for the Money – So he totally changed the song and sang the lyrics to his own beat. Of course it was good. It wasn’t disco. It was better. My nemesis will never go!
Danny – September – I love this song but I don’t like the low energy. This song is supposed to be very upbeat. I think the band messed him up on this one. I didn’t love the arrangement.
Allison – Hot Stuff – Another interesting arrangement. I thought it was okay. Enough to stay. Not her IT performance. But good enough for disco night.
Adam - If I Can’t Have You – I liked it. I would have sang the chorus like the Bee Gees though. I think the strong is slow and strong on its own. I think I liked Chris better.
Matt – Staying Alive – I like him but this was just an okay performance.
Anoop – Dim the Lights – I liked it. But he made it too karaoke with the pointing and the smirking. I wish he would have stayed in the moment.
Best performance: Chris and Anoop. Worst: Lil Rounds and Matt. Going home…Lil Rounds and Matt. There time is up! We shall see….c-ya!

Songs from the Year Contestants Born
Due to my injury, this review is re-posted from EOnline:
Idol's Elite Eight Try to Make You Love Them
By Natalie Finn Tue Apr 7, 9:04 PM PDT
March Madness is over, but April Idolatry has just begun.
The American Idol field has been pared down to a mostly elite eight, give or take a few errant vocal cords, and Tuesday's matchup had them singing songs from the year they were born.
WIth Danny Gokey being the eldest remaining contestant at 28 and Allison Iraheta bottoming out at 16, we're talking tunes released between 1980 and 1992.
Did the Top Eight make the most of the gillion choices they had to choose from?
Well, some rogue always manages to get around those rather wide parameters by choosing a later version of a decades-old hit. Sure enough, Danny's song choice was so '60s...
Danny Gokey: He was in danger of lapsing into easy-listening-remake territory by choosing Mickey Gilley's 1980 version of Ben E. King's "Stand by Me," but Danny injected enough of a sexy rasp into the tune to make at least the beginning of his performance interesting, before the predictable "everybody sing!" vibe took over. His vocal was strong throughout, however, and the judges really liked it. Randy Jackson loved it even though he didn't care for the arrangement, and though Simon Cowell thought the middle part "was lazy," he declared it great overall.
Kris Allen: The multitalented 23-year-old's performance was packed with visual and rhythmic pleasantries, but it lacked the emotion that had been making Kris rise above the past few weeks. Don Henley's upbeat "All She Wants to Do Is Dance" from 1985 sounded fine in Kris' guitar-strumming hands, but there was nothing standout-special about him tonight. Paula Abdul's attempt at a critique tapered off into "you have to be one of the most likable contestants," while Simon Cowell called the arrangement "indulgent, boring, forgettable."
Lil Rounds: Bummer. A great song—Tina Turner's "What's Love Got to Do With It"—but Lil's version started off as an impersonation, minus Tina's inimitable rasp. She was even mimicking the diva's concert and music video moves. The performance heated up toward the end with some big notes, but it was just a rehash in the simplest sense of the word. "It's about making that leap from a singer to an artist, and that's where you're struggling right now," a concerned Kara DioGuardi said.
Anoop Desai: As far as this arrangement went, only the chorus of Cyndi Lauper's 1986 hit "True Colors" let Anoop's talent show. And even then, his performance was kinda boring. However, considering how much of a disaster results when the 21-year-old tries to do contemporary R&B dance tunes, we're glad he picked a ballad and kept it simple. We weren't sure which way the judges were going to lean, considering Randy started off by congratulating the Chapel Hill native on North Carolina's basketball victory last night—but they dug it. "You're like a singing yoyo—one minute you're down, and then you're up," commented Simon.
Scott MacIntyre: Buoyed by an electric guitar instead of a piano, Scott gave what at least was his most interesting performance to date. He was overreaching (and forgetting his audience) by choosing Survivor's "The Search Is Over"—he's an odd duck when it comes to song choice, isn't he?—but at least the power ballad had more contrasting elements than the 23-year-old's usual feel-good repertoire. Simon thought the song "atrocious," Paula was confused, and Randy encouraged him to "leap off the stage, vocally."
Allison Iraheta: "I Can't Make You Love Me" is supposed to make you ache, and we ached—in a hurt-so-good way—listening to Allison take on Bonnie Raitt circa 1992. Despite a few questionable sartorial choices, this little lass has never let us down, turning each song she chooses into something we want to listen to from start to finish. "That's a gift that you can't put a price tag on," gushed Paula, while Simon held back a bit. He thought her performance "very good," but she needs to "lighten up a little bit." Pretty sure he told her the same thing many rounds ago.
Matt Giraud: The 23-year-old slowed down and sexed up Stevie Wonder's "Part-Time Lover" from 1985 and got the response to show for it. Matt, who like Anoop has alternated weekly between hit-single karaoke and stirring vocal power punch packed the latter tonight. With the show running out of time, the judges were only able to offer a few words apiece: "Vocally, one of the best of the night," Randy said. "Incredible, on every level," Kara chimed in. "Two words—standing-O," Paula said. "Million times better than last week," Simon offered.
Adam Lambert: Well, of course the ridiculously polished 26-year-old was going to sing Gary Jules' Donnie Darko version of Tears for Fears' "Mad World," only with more stylish riffs, sex appeal and tear-jerking high notes. Why? Because it was another perfect song choice (give or take "Play That Funky Music"). "The bad news is, we're running out of time," Simon began before…wait for it…standing up to applaud the front-runner's performance.
Well, if that doesn't say it all.

Stupid Theme Night - Top iTunes Download
Let's get started.
Anoop – Caught Up! - Really bad. Boring, slow, poor man’s karaoke. I am not sure if he was just bad or if it was the band. R&B artist? No, we don’t want you. Please stay on the pop rock side. He sang the song as if it were a record on super slow speed.
Meghan – Turn Your Lights Down Low - My dog is yelping. Bob Marley and Lauren Hill did a WAY better job at this song. This was a train wreck. She should have done, “Put a Record On.” That would have been easy. I am the audience….I am not feeling it.
Danny – What Hurts The Most – He has a great voice. I wasn’t feeling this song. Just okay. I think he has the ability to come out EVERY week and knock it out of the park. I feel like he is good but this was not his, “It” moment. I don’t agree with Simon. It was good, nice voice, but I hope this wasn’t the best of the night.
Allison – Don’t Speak - Bad. She is not a good guitarist. It got in the way. She is a brilliant singer. But I wasn’t feeling this performance. The outfit and performance…she should have left the guitar out and sung a Christina Aguilera song. She has a power voice, she should do power songs. Not necessarily R&B, but right now – that’s were the power vocals are.
Scott – Just the Way you Are – Not terrible. His problem is that he hangs onto the notes too long. As a result he takes out the magic. But it was a solid performance, his look was better. He is developing.
Matt – You Found Me – I love him. But I am not feeling this performance. It was a so what performance, dragged and I was bored. He should stick to R&B. He
Lil Rounds – I Surrender - This is why you are going home. Bad song choices. Good singing is NOT enough in this type of a competition. Ryan proves again he is an ass.
Adam – Play that Funky Music White Boy – Great performer. This is what they mean by up tempo. I can hear this song on the radio. I am bias because I never liked this song. But good performance.
Kris – Aint No Sunshine – Smart choice, smooth, solid performance. I hate him!!!! Make him leave. He is here another week.
Top performance: Shutter – Kris, Adam and Danny. Bottom: Sigh – Matt, Meghan and Anoop. Going home..I hope Meghan. But could be Matt.

Motown Week
Let's go!
Matt – Let’s Get It On – I don’t like him being first..but someone has to be. I LOVE his piano playing. I think he sang the song well. It had low parts in the middle. He is definitely more confident behind the piano. But I am glad he tried stepping behind the piano and trying something new.
Kris – How Sweet It Is – The opening was weak. Guitar completely unnecessary. I am on a gallon of hater-ade when it comes to him. Can’t stand him. And I hate the wife too.
Scott – You Can’t Hurry Love – It was awful. I like Scott. But he needs to go home. I really wanted him to stop and was wishing it was over.
Meghan – For Once in My Life – This was terrible. Train wreck comes to mind. It was laughable. The outfit, voice, her moving around?!? Booooo! Go Home.
Anoop – Ooh Baby Baby – He sung it well, but looked strangely out of place. I would have liked to have seen him in a suit.
Michael – Aint Too Proud to Beg – Too happy. It makes it karaoke when you smile through a pleading song. He is singing SOUL music and he is singing like he lost his at the crossroads. Strong finish. But if he felt it and stopped grinning like a fool - it could have been his comeback. The issue is that he is good and we want great. He just didn't put that umpf into it and it’s frustrating.
Lil Rounds – Heatwave – Good performance. She was shouting at times. I didn’t like it. Aint No Mountain High Enough would have been better.
Adam – Tracks of My Tears – Damn! He knocked it out of the park. Just the ending. Well down. Some keys were strange to me, but I liked it. It was smooth. That is what they mean by FEELING a song!
Danny – Get Ready – Up tempo song. Not bad. I think if I heard this before Adam, I would have loved it. Just a switch of gears after hearing the good slower songs. I liked it but not my favorite of the night.
Allison – Poppa Was a Rolling Stone – It was hot. I liked it. She has the power vocals and the stage presence. I liked her haircut.
Top performance – Adam & Allison. Bottom performances – Meghan & Michael. Still loving Matt and Danny. Kris and Scott should start packing for the coming weeks. Anoop and Lil Rounds are wild cards. But we shall see. Until tomorrow….c-ya!

Country Music Week
Michael – Good job. I thought it was ok for a country song. All these performances are going to be ok. I hate when the contestants talk back.
Allison – I like her but she oversang the song. I think she also sang it a beat too slow? I didn’t like it as much as the judges. Uh oh…Paula made sense! Did they change her meds? I think because she is such a strong singer, she can begin to show different sides of her ability.
Kris – I just can’t stand the little Monchichi. I like this song since Adele re-did it. I didn’t know it was a country song. I don’t like the country version. But he did a good job. Damn him!
Lil Rounds – She can sing but this was such a so-what performance. I wont remember this by the end of the show. All black folks are supposed to sing Whitney’s Dolly Parton song. I thought that was written in the Idol contract?
Adam – I like this version. This is the way to take a song and make it yours. Of course, Johnny Cash just rolled out of his casket…but I liked it. It was young, and fresh and hot…but not country. I agree with Simon that it was a little overindulgent. I think tonight Adam and Allison are overestimating their appeal.
Scott – Um…Travis…your supposed to GIVE them advice. The piano covers his singing. He was pretty flat the entire song. This performance reminded me of Kris’ performance….just not as good. All his songs are sounding the same to me.
Alexis – I never liked this song when sung by someone other than Dolly. But she did sing well. I think her inflections were a little off and the way they chopped the song was criminal. Ha – Randy agreed.
Danny – It was good. He didn’t make it his own, but it was a solid performance as he always does. I agreed with New Judge and Randy…he did better on the chorus than the lyrics. Start slow…but sing with emotion all the way through.
Anoop – Uh oh. Sleeper. Go Annop…A-Dog! Beautiful. Reminding folks why he’s there. Good job. Randy was right, good arrangement.
Meghan - She can sing. And it’s unique. But she has zero stage performance. If they can work with her…it might be better. I thought it worked for her.
Matt – Loving me some Matt! He is so good. That last note wasn’t there. But it was still a great performance.
Best of the night: Matt, Danny, Anoop. Worst: Scott, Lil Rounds and Alexis. 1 is going home...I am saying...I don't know! I want it to be Michael or Meghan...but I think they are here to stay. Based on people who vote, I am going to say Lil Rounds. We shall see...

The Top 13 Perform

Lil Rounds – The Way You Make Me Feel – Seemed a little old, but still good. Not sure how to classify her yet.
Scott – Keep the Faith – He is a true Balladeer. That’s where he fits. This song is very soulful so he left me wanting, but a nice white washed version of the song. Kind of like Paul McCarthy singing Say, Say, Say. The ending was better than beginning. Song is just okay, so as a result, so was the performance.
Danny – PYT – Hot!!! Loved it. Nice arrangement and great performance. He is the front runner. [performance]
Michael - You are not alone – Just okay. I didn’t feel the passion and the connection to the song. Not bad but potentially forgettable performance. I think I am distracted by his facial expressions.
Jasmine – I’ll Be there – Boring. She is just too young for this competition. All her performances are juvenile. Which would be okay if this was Kids Idol. But it’s not. She has a beautiful singing voice but its not enough.
Kris – Remember the Time – Why the hell did he have the guitar?!? You could barely hear it! I hate his little side smile. Nitwit. He missed all the high notes.
Allison – Give in to Me – Good rock performance. She should stay and deserves it. I would have picked a more familiar song...but she is sooo talented. Singing in the furniture store was weird?
Anoop – Beat It – In the words of “Mo” on the AI chat last night, “Yeah Anoop. Just beat it.” Silly, waste of time and worse than karaoke. He should have sang a slow song. I think he blew his big chance believing his own hype.
Jorge – Never Can Say Goodbye – It was corny and rough in places. New Judge was right…he should have done She’s Out of My Life. It would have fit his voice better. But I do want him to stay. I like him.
Meghan – Rocking Robin – She made crowing sounds at the end of her performance. ‘nuff said. Oh, one more thing – she stunk.
Adam – Black or White – I hate this song so I’m biased. He can sing and it had good points. But overall I didn’t like it. He did have good stage presence.
Matt – Human Nature – Loved the arrangement. Bluesy, smooth, solid performance. He’s voice strained in some places but MJ is a hard performer to copy. I hope Matt stays behind the piano. It suits him.
Alexis – Dirty Diana – She didn’t pull it off. I like her but she took a big chance and failed. It was like a kitten trying to be a tiger. It didn’t work for me. She should have done Butterflies. I still like her.
SO Top 3: Danny, Allison and Matt. Bottom 3: Meghan, Kris and Anoop.
Going home: Meghan, Kris and surprise oust Jasmine by the judges (the unexpected twist).
We shall see....c-ya tomorrow!
Wild Card Round

Jessie – Tell Me Something Good – Off-key to begin with. She is over singing the song. I like the style of her voice but this performance is not working for me.

Matt - Who’s Loving You – I felt this song was indulgent. I think he would have been better if he had sung another song. It got better as the song went on.
*** I like this show the best. They get up there…sing…no annoying Ryan banter…no annoying ploys to make us call your phone number. It was actually like a singing competition. Wow!

Meghan – Black Horse- I hate her. I wish I could speak a foreign language so that I can say it again in a different way. The tattoos are ugly, her twisting is weird, and I don’t like her voice.
Von – Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word – I think he has a good voice, but this song choice was too dated for him. He is young. He could have found a more contemporary song to sing.*** The judges are being WAY to nice tonight and these people are not impressing me.
Jasmine – Reflection – The problem with this song is that Christina Aguilar sings like she is older. So even though this song is from a Disney movie, it is a mature song. But she sung it well. Beautiful. I agree with New Judge, I thought it was a mistake too and I think it still was in a way, but she did show her beautiful voice.*** Paula needs to get off the booze and the pills.

Ricky – Superstitious – Love him. It will be a travesty if he doesn’t make it through. He has a great voice. Strong and soulful. Fun performance. I am biased because I like him.
Tatianna – Saving All My Love - I love how cookoo she is! Didn’t she already sing this song? She started out really rough in this song. I am not sure if it was a language or pronunciation thing. She blew it. She had the nerve to remember she was from Puerto Rico because Jorge got all the attention last week! Phony!!! Get off your knees and go home! She had a shot...but she blew it by singing the same song and by doing it poorly.
Anoop – My Perogative – I didn’t like it. I wish he would have done Justin Timberlake. If they are going to knock Tatianna for repeating a song, he should be knocked for it too.And the decision is…Jasmine, Meghan and Matt!!! Hold it…AND Anoop! Bullsh*t!!
Not that he "stole" someones spot...but Ricky before Meghan and Matt. Anoop is a novelty. Slumdog Millionaire won an Oscar AND got Anoop in the Top 13! And the racist comments are flowing! I've read that they are calling Jasmine the "Chocolate Martian"! I would think it was cruel if it were so sadly true.
I am soo bummed..at least until Ryan and the finalists left Scott's ass on stage to wonder around in the dark. LMAO!!! His brother had to run on stage and help him. ADA violation? I'm sure of it! But at least I will be going to bed with a smile on my face.
The real competition starts next week. So until then....Cya!
Top 36 - Final Group & Wild Card Announcement
Von – You’re All I Need – Ok start to the show. Musical theatre. Not terrible but not right for this competition. I liked him and he reminded me of Clay Aitken.
Alex –I think that’s why they call it the blues – Terrible. Horrible. Stupid. Too old to be that dumb.
Ju’Not – Hey There Delilah – I wanted to be grabbed and he poked.
Taylor, Felicia and Arianna – All forgettable.
Kristin – Give Me One Reason – 2 words: Carnival Cruises. She can sing. Her ability to sing does not make a good performance.
Nathaniel – I Would Do Anything For Love – Not a bad singer but the performance left me cold. I think he could have picked a better song his first time out. I think he will make it through.
Scott – Mandolin Rain – It was just okay. It was not hot. And we need hot. He is going to get the sympathy vote.
Kendall – Listen to The Girls – Very cute. Good singer. Country is harder to connect with the audience.
Jorge – Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me – Loved it. He worked hard and brought it. I liked his performance.
Lil Rounds – Be Without You – She did a good job. Contemporary,
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lil Rounds, Scott and Jorge make it through. No surprise at all.
Now the Twist! Judges are going to bring back 8 from the final group and allow them to perform again. Then they will pick the final 3. That was not the original plan so that means these guys were pretty bad the first time around: Von, Jasmine, Ricky, Meghan, Tatianna, Matt, Jessie, Anoop
I agree that Von, Jasmine, Ricky, Tatianna, and Matt deserve a second chance. I thought Meghan, Jessie and Anoop should not. I would have brought back Ju’not, Kristin and Nick/Norman. I am DEVASTED he is off the show! I just wanted to hear him one more time. Stephen and some other folks weren’t even asked back for this part! Or maybe they opted out on their own?!? That was strange.
So I hope they choose Ricky and Tatianna as wild cards. Crazy T will at least keep it lively!
We shall see. Until tomorrow…c-ya!

Top 36 - Second Group
Let’s just get to the show! Join us for the live chat every week during the show.

Jasmine – Head Over Water – Damn! Just terrible! She had a chance and she blew it. Just like Stephen. Too bad, I liked her.

Matt – Viva La Vida – Just a bad copy of the sing. A really poor one. Song choice is sooo important! I liked him before in the auditions. He is talented. But bad song choice has sunk his chances.

Janine - This Love Has Taken Control of Me - so what performance. Bad song choice again. No one knew her before, to one remembers her now. She blew it.

Nick/Norman – And I’m Telling You - Brought it, cooked it…served it hot! I love him. I think he should be serious if he makes it through. He is a good singer when he is serious. But I have no idea what his niche is?!?

Allison – Alone - Her appearance throws me off. Bad red hair, thick girl, extreme features. But great voice. Especially for 16 year old. She should go far because she is talented.

Kris – Man in Mirror – Really nice, mellow performance. Nervous but a pleasant performance. But “just good” is not going to win this competition.

Meghan - Put Your Records On – She looked weird moving around. Shaking. Strange. Bad outfit. Vocals were ok. I do think she is marketable.

Matt – If You Can Only See – Great voice. No stage presence. Not sure how that will work out. Simon was right…boring, low energy, didn’t feel right. But good voice.

Jesse – Bette Davis Eyes – How about a song from the last 5 years? 10 years? 20 years? 30 years?!? That song was done in 1974. It was simple and easy. She looked good. She can sing. But not the next Idol.

Kai – What Becomes of the Brokenhearted - Boring song. Good voice. Reminded me of Al Jarreau. It’s young girls voting, his song choice will not appeal to them. Maybe wild card.

Mishavonna - Drops of Jupiter – Song was just ok. Not memberable. I think a better song would have ensured her spot. I would have had her do an Alanis Morrisette song.
Adam – Satisfaction – He was like Nick/Norman…but serious. I like his voice. Reminds me of Steve Perry. Or any hairband from the 80’s. He would be good doing Guns and Roses. I liked it. Did Randy just compare him to Twilight’s Robert Pattinson. Blasphemy, dog!
When you watch the recap…you see how bad it really was tonight. I think Allison is through for the girls, Adam for the boys, the 3rd person is Norman/Nick. The bald Matt will be given another chance by the judges in the wild card round. This is tough because so many favorites are performing poorly due to song choice. Next year, their songs should be picked for them in the early rounds (not just at the end when Clive Davis is on the show).
Let’s see if I’m right about my picks! C-ya tomorrow.

Top 36 - First Group
Join us during showtime and chat with us in the Shoutbox to the left! We had 6 people last week...let's get to 10!!
So...on with the show!
Jackie – A Little Less Conversation – Terrible! This was your one shot and this what you came up with?!? The clothes and the Playboy bunny necklace was dated. This is a singing competition. So the best vocal is what we are looking for.

Ricky – A Song For You – Really good performance. I liked him. I agreed with Simon that he has to come away from the nice guy persona. But great job on that song. http://www.rickey.org/?p=11805
Alexis – I Never Loved A Man - I loved you – I would have picked a better song for her. I think that performance should have been saved for latter. I think she should have done an Alicia Keyes song. More up-to-date.

Brent - Hicktown – I think we are done with Country singers. He can sing, but so what! Not the next Idol. Thanks for playing.

Stevie – You Belong To Me - Terrible!!! She was off key most of the song. Dumb Song. Nervous. Bad, bad, bad.

Anoop – Angel of Mine – Bad song choice!!!!! I liked him so much during the auditions. Too safe. He is going home.

Casey – Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic – Terrible. Bad. Train wreck. Pleas stop.

Michael – I Don’t Want To Be – Bo Bice did this song waaay better. I wasn’t feeling this performance. Not great…just ok. He can do better.

Ann Marie – Natural Woman – She was really nervous. I think she was just good. Bad notes. Song was bigger than her.

Stephen – Rock With You – Bad lounge act!!! Big disappointment.

Tatianna – Saving All My Love For You – Not bad. Just boring. She’s got pipes.

Danny – Hero – He did a great job! He knocked it out of the park. I was worried about the song. But he did great. http://www.rickey.org/?p=11841
My guess at the vote is that Danny will make it for the boys, Alexis for the girls. Tatianna will be the next highest vote getter. I think the judges will bring back Ricky as the wild card at the end of the season. Or they should. They might surprise me and give Michael another chance. I thought Ricky was better than Michael…but who knows! We shall see tomorrow. Remember to vote!!! Until tomorrow…c-ya!

Hollywood Week – Part IV
***note** - the chat is working. I paid the whopping $6.00 to get unlimited posting for the next few months. So join us here on Tuesday @ 8:00p.m.!
So all this time they were basically showing us who is going to be our Top 36 contestants. I tried to get pictures of each one...but there were so many! Some I didn't even know who they were. They showed us some bad people and the Top 36 instead of good singers in general from each audition. I blame it on the editing!
The Good:
I am glad some of my show favorites made it through. Anoop, both Danny's, Stephen, Matt, Scott. I was thrilled that Norman/Nick made it through. He may be a fool but he is a GREAT singer. I so don't care about the girls. I only know Jasmine, Lil Rounds, Joanna (who was disqualified after the background check), and Anna Marie. But we will eventually grow to know and love all of them as we have in past seasons.
The Bad:
I can't stand Von and am annoyed he got through. Tatianna is a piece of work! She has a great singing voice but her personality ruins it. That is why she will never make it big, with or without this show. Just terrible. The sing-offs made it more exciting to watch but it was a pretty cold-blooded way to go out. Also as I was watching it, I was counting, so the big "You're both in!" to Matt and Brian was stupid. There were 2 spots left. Of course they were both in!
So they will perform in groups of 12 over the next 3 weeks. The top girl and the top boy and the next highest vote getter boy or girl moves forward. So for each group of 12, only 3 make it. This is pretty cut throat to get 1 chance and then you are out. It could just be that the people in your group are more liked, not that you didn't have the talent to stay. They brought back the wild card round where the judges get to bring back 3 of the contestants that are eliminated (1 I’m assuming from each week). That gives us our Top12, move to the Kodak Theatre and then the person with the lowest votes each week is eliminated for the next 12 weeks until the finale!
I will be voting next week to keep Norman in….but he is in the group with Stephen, Anoop and Brian. Tough call! We shall see. Until next week…c-ya!

Hollywood Week – Part III
This is just going to be a summary.
I think there are a lot more good boys this year than girls. I feel like they have to cut some good guys just to have the numbers balance out. There is a Top 36 now instead of Top 24. This is the rules:
In season eight, the semifinals will go back to the basic form of the first three seasons. There will be thirty-six semifinalists who are then divided into three semifinal groups. The three finalists with the highest number of America's votes, one male, one female and the next top vote getter, will advance to the finals. The Wildcard round will also return with the judges choosing three previously eliminated contestants to advance to the finals.
Huh?!? I guess I will understand what that means soon enough!
Here is my pick for the Top 24 (I haven’t seen enough of the group to pick 6 more of each!)
Top 12 Boys:
Danny, Danny, Jamar, Stephen, Matt, Scott, Anoop, Norman, Ju’Not, Kai, Michael, Matt
Top 12 Girls:
Stevie, Alexis, Joanna, Jasmine, Kendall, Anne Marie, Lil Rounds, Kristin, Arianna, Tatianna (she is off the chain!)
I could only think of 10 girls….and Tatianna would be voted off first week!
I would like to see more of the contestants so its good that there are 36 this year. Since I only really know about 25-26 of them really well.
Come join us on the website tomorrow to chat!!!! I will post the pictures of all of the Top 36 tomorrow. Until then…c-ya!

Hollywood Week – Part II
Big ups to JH and WMD for joining me on the AI chat tonight. It’s nice to be able to discuss the show while it’s going on. Anyway…on with the show!
I hate the group round because this is where most make fools of themselves. Either by not getting along, not working together or egos. The video camera is relentless! Don’t forget the lyrics.
Tatiana’s Group – I would kick her butt. That’s why there is an age limit. Because an older person wouldn’t take all that drama.

Team Compromise – What are they arguing about?!? Red Hair can study on her own! Just practice your part!

Bikini Girl’s Group – We knew she was going to be drama. They have to baby her.
Rose’s Group – Fighting already. Rose is going to lose this battle.
The Performances:
White Chocolate – Good performance. I don’t remember any of the people as individuals?!? The girl didn’t even sing, only rapped?!?

Julissa’s group – They were ALL terrible. Nick and Jorge were in the group and Nick/Norman’s first time serious and they didn’t even show him!

Emily’s Group – The group was terrible but she should have been put through. The judges made a mistake with that. That boy with his crazy eyes sucked!

Danny’s Group – I loved all of them. I still like Jamar more than Danny.

Other Danny’s Group – I loved Danny. He is my dark horse in this competition.
Bikini Girl & Rose’s Group – All the crap she talked and Rose went up there and made a fool of herself on her own. It wasn’t the group. It was the individuals. Lauren wasn’t terrible but really not going to make it much further. Jasmine is the only one who deserved it. I'm just glad Bikini Girl is gone!

Tatiana’s Group – All over the place….what??? She is soooo over the top. I can't believe they all made it through.
Red Hair Girl Group – I don’t think Nathaniel should have made it through. At least Nancy admitted that she let herself down by getting into all the mind games and drama.
Emily, Osmund boy, Rose all out. I liked them! It’s cut throat time.
My dvr cut off the preview for next week. It should be just as good. I hope more of you join us on the AI chat! So until next week….c-ya!

Hollywood Week - Part I
147 contestants, they are cutting about 40 people today. That’s rough. Perhaps it will be painless…but I bet not! I like the idea of AI Boot camp. I think they can weed out some people that should leave early.
Let’s begin:

Lil Rounds – 1st girl was not good. They keep referring to her as really good…but I didn’t think so. I think she was shouting. I will give her another chance to impress me.

Dennis – terrible singing, lips, ugly, bye bye. Embarrassing himself, that’s nice.

Anoop – I liked him. I think a middle eastern dude is a nice addition to the competition. And yes… it does start matter the race, gender, even hometown of the contestant becomes important.

Jasmine – She was good. Way better than Lil. Still can’t believe she’s 16.

Rose – She reminded me of Brooke from last year. Okay…but not great. She is a lounge singer at best. Talented…but not the next American Idol.

Stephen – He reminded me of John Legend and Brian McKnight. He definitely has a voice that is going to be recorded.

Jorge – too much shouting…but a nice voice. Girls are going to go crazy for that accent.

Von – I thought he was too young to begin with. Much too High School Musical. He blew it. Once more mistake and he is out.

Nick aka Norman – Loved him…and I hope he does well. I will do ANYTHING if he makes it!!! I will vote for him week, after week, after week, after week.

Jackie – I like her. But I don’t think she will go super far because her voice is very rocker. But not like David Cook who could change arrangements and make them is own.

Jamar – I liked him. Very smooth, silky voice. Danny, his buddy, was just okay. I love Kiss From A Rose but he struggled in the beginning. He got stronger as he went.

Katrina – The boys don’t really care what she sounds like. She is terrible. Put her through so me and millions of women can dog her week after week and call her a slut. I look forward to making her cry.

Emily – terrible song choice. If the experts tell you what to do…why do something different?!?
I would have liked to have heard more singing. The show really has become too much fluff. Do they think we can’t notice?!? More commercials than the Super Bowl. I do like this part of the competition and group performance is notoriously gruesome. People goofing off instead of practicing, forgetting the lyrics and just being all around bad! I can’t wait!
Until tomorrow….c-ya!
